The project highlights the importance of training for the establishment and strengthening of international cooperation processes in the field of water resources. The issue of capacity in the water sector is an essential cross-cutting topic and as far as the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda are concerned, one of the biggest challenges reported for incorporation into institutions was the lack of capacity.
In the face of complex unresolved issues, it is necessary to strengthen education, training, awareness and encourage the creation of international learning networks, thus accelerating the implementation of best practices in the sector. It is possible to raise awareness of how to improve water and sanitation through strengthening education.
The theme also includes the importance of science and technology in solving water problems, applying cutting-edge solutions and disseminating environmental data, including guidance on the use of these materials in the implementation and development of public policies.
Professional training, the dissemination of science and technology and integration with public policies, development and the exchange of experiences between different countries are fundamental points in the search for solutions to water problems and in reaching the SDGs.
This, combined with other actions, can help in the implementation of SDG-6 (mainly in international cooperation and support for the development of developing countries), linked to SDG-4 (education) and SDG-17 (partnerships and means of implementation) .
